Measures to Improve Hard Rock Drilling Efficiency of Mining Drilling Rigs

Hard rock drilling is a key bottleneck restricting the operation efficiency of mining drilling rigs, and efficiency improvement can be realized through equipment optimization, parameter adjustment, tool matching, and construction process upgrading. First, optimize drilling tool matching according to rock hardness. Select high-strength carbide alloy drill bits and thickened integral drill rods for hard rock such as granite and basalt, which improve rock breaking ability and reduce tool wear and frequent replacement time. Replace ordinary drill bits with step-type impact drill bits to form multi-point cutting on rock surfaces, reducing single-point drilling resistance and improving hole-forming speed.

Second, adjust drilling operating parameters scientifically. Appropriately increase the rotational torque and feeding thrust of the drilling rig within the rated equipment range, and adopt intermittent impact drilling mode for extremely hard rock to avoid continuous tool stagnation caused by excessive rock hardness. Control the reasonable rotation speed: low speed and high torque for super-hard rock, and medium speed for medium-hard rock to balance drilling efficiency and tool loss. Third, optimize the flushing and cooling system. Increase the flow of high-pressure flushing water to timely discharge rock slag generated by drilling, prevent slag accumulation from grinding the drill bit and blocking the drill hole, and reduce drilling resistance. Strengthen drill bit cooling to avoid high-temperature annealing and hardness reduction of alloy teeth, ensuring continuous and stable rock breaking performance. Fourth, upgrade the equipment power system.

For old-fashioned low-power mining drilling rigs, replace high-power variable-frequency motors and hydraulic systems to improve power output stability and impact force. In addition, adopt segmented drilling construction technology for deep hard rock holes, complete shallow hole pre-breaking first, then carry out deep drilling, and reduce the difficulty of deep rock breaking. Regularly maintain equipment, eliminate hydraulic system leakage and power attenuation faults, and ensure the drilling rig maintains optimal operating performance for a long time. The comprehensive application of these measures can significantly improve hard rock drilling speed, reduce tool failure rate, and shorten construction cycles.
