How to Extend the Service Life of the Drill Pipe of a Multi Functional Anchoring Drilling Rig?

As we all know, in the use of fully hydraulic Multi Functional Anchoring Drilling Rigs, the drill pipe is one of the most easily worn parts. Therefore, reducing the wear and tear of the drill pipe as much as possible is one of the ways to save costs. So, how can we effectively extend the service life of the drill pipe?

When using the drill pipe for the first drilling operation, it is necessary to "break in the new threads." This includes applying thread oil, then tightening with the rig at full torque, loosening the connection, reapplying thread oil, and loosening again. Repeating this process three times can prevent premature wear and thread locking.

Each time when making up the connection, it must be tightened with full torque, and the condition of the clamping pieces should be regularly checked. Connections should be tightened slowly to reduce overheating and wear.

When using a new drill pipe, ensure that the threads of the drill bit front section (protecting the shaft head) are also nearly new. A damaged thread on the drill bit can easily wear out the threads of the new drill pipe, leading to water leakage, thread locking, loosening, and other issues.

Rotate the use of drill pipes regularly. Avoid using the same drill pipe fixedly for guiding and reaming operations. Rotation is necessary to prevent excessive wear and pipe breakage.

Maintain the entry angle as small as possible and change the angle slowly in accordance with the safety requirements of the drill pipe.

Keep the drill pipe as straight as possible below and above the ground. This avoids lateral stress on the threaded parts and prevents unnecessary wear or even thread jumping. It is crucial to anchor the rig properly to prevent movement during operation.

Do not exceed the maximum bending radius of the drill pipe. Pay special attention to angle changes when transitioning to the horizontal section during drilling and when exiting the borehole.

Shorten the distance from the Multi Functional Anchoring Drilling Rig to the entry point. If the drill pipe lacks support, it is prone to bending and deformation during guiding, which shortens its service life.
